Our parishioners, David and Gail Veinotte, recently lost
their home in a fire. Our parish council has decided to make an appeal for
donations for the family. Anyone wanting
to donate, please clearly mark on an envelope “Veinotte family” and if
receipts are required, please clearly mark your name and address on the
envelope as well.
The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity starts Monday, 22 January,
and continues through Friday, 26 January. Services will take place at 12 noon,
starting that Monday, at the Baptist Church, Tuesday, 23 January, at Calvary
Temple, we will host on Wednesday, 24 January, Thursday, 25 January at St. John’s Lutheran and, ending on Friday
at Trinity United.
St. James Annual General Meeting will be held Sunday, 11 February at 1 p.m. in the Parish
Hall after the 11 a.m. service.
Love: St. James
will be celebrating the week of Love by displaying wedding memorabilia in the
hall during our Feb.11 AGM, and sharing wedding cake!
Please bring wedding pictures, cakes toppers, shoes, veils, dried flowers or
anything you might have from your wedding, your parents or Grandparent’s
weddings, or mementos from a special love you want to give thanks for. Please
bring your items to the hall prior to the 11a.m. service and set them up on our
Heartfelt THANK YOU to all who, in the past months, have kindly
donated time, talent and money to the Steeple Fund. Since the summer, as
many are aware, work on the steeple at St. James’ has involved much more in the
way of structural repair and upkeep than expected. The Rector, Wardens
and Council appreciate the support of all – from St. James’, Christ Church and
the wider community – toward maintaining the integrity of this important landmark.
Donations will continue to be gratefully accepted on an ongoing basis,
and please note as well that receipts will be forthcoming in due course.
Anyone wishing to have an
afternoon out, enjoy a cup of tea etc. please feel free to join the knitters between 1 & 3 p.m. on Wednesdays. They will make you
St. James Parish offers you the convenient opportunity to donate to a number of causes and community efforts. You are likely already aware that you can donate to the Primate's World Relief & Development Fund (PWRDF), the Mahone Bay & Area Food Bank, and now you can also donate to the school-lunch program at Bayview Community School, helping to provide good lunches to kids who need them. Simply make your cheque out to St. James' as you normally would, and make a note on it what it is for, if it is intended for one of these worthwhile effort.
